Cate Blachett to Star in Indian Summer
Actress Cate Blanchett has been choosen to play a lead role in Joe Wright's newest project, based on Alex von Tunzelmann's book, Indian Summer.
The tale of unrequited love will be based around English noblewoman Edwina Mountbatten (Blanchett), and the first prime minister of India, Jawaharial Nehru. The novel takes place in 1947, during the last stages of British colonial rule in India.
Interestingly, this is Wright's return to period films after the mixed success of his last modern day music drama, The Soloist. Wright's previous successes include Pride and Prejudice and the much acclaimed, Atonement.
