A new Daybreakers movie poster has been released, and I've got to give it a firm, "Meh". I mean the look is cool and everything but whenever there is any kind of human "farm" involved in a movie, there is always this very repeating, very symmetrical shot. The first time I've seen this shot was in the 1983 TV series V, it's been used numerous times in numerous movies since.

I love the actual storyline of Daybreakers which is that in the future a virus has turned most of the world's population to vampires. The vampires are running out of food since humans are the minority and are being hunted just about to extinction. So with that story in mind, I just thought there were some other elements they could have focused their poster on...maybe?

What do you guys think?

The new movie poster for the much anticipated Peter Jackson drama, The Lovely Bones has just been released, and I'm a bit torn about it. I think it has beautiful use of color, but strangely I didn't feel like it had much of a connection to the book. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because the book's cover is such a recognizable shade of light blue anything else doesn't quite fit. In any case, what do you think?

The novel The Lovely Bones, written by Alice Sebold, tells the story of a young girl named Susie Salmon who is raped and brutally murdered. As Susie looks on from heaven, she must learn to come to terms with her own death as her family must learn to move on and live their lives without her.

It looks like each family clan gets their own poster in the three latest movie posters released for New Moon, set to hit theaters November 20th, 2009.

I was sick all of last week and as a result was a bit out of touch with things for a few days. I was flipping through websites, reading and catching up on things when I came across these pictures of the upcoming Karate Kid remake, The Kung-Fu Kid, and the strangest thing happened. I shook my head, rolled my eyes and found myself actually resenting this movie for some unknown reason.

I don't really know why, because I haven't really heard much about this movie aside from the story we all know from the original Karate Kid. Where a young kid is forced to move from the home he knows and loves to a foreign and hostile land due to his mother's work. The young boy is picked on and beat up until a very unsuspecting guardian teaches him the ways of kung-fu.

Maybe it's because on the list of my most beloved 80's movies, Karate Kid is one I really didn't want to see remade, or messed with at all really. As corny as that movie was at some points, I still loved it, crane kick and all. Maybe it's because I'm really not digging the casting of Jaden Smith for this role. I don't know, I still have to figure this one out, but for now I still roll my eyes and shake my head whenever I look at these pics.

There are two undeniable facts the original Smurfs gave us: Papa Smurf was a pimp, and every guy had a fantasy about Smurfette. Seriously though, I'm a bit torn with this film. On one hand it brings up that, "Omgwtfpwn!" nostalgic feeling of seeing the Smurfs again, and really, who didn't love the Smurfs? On the other hand, after the protection of nostalgia wears off, doesn't a CGI movie of the Smurfs seem...somewhat corny?

In any case, coming soon gives us the first look at what the Smurfs will look like. Let me know what you think!

Inglourious Basterds' publicity had a good run. It wasn't anything to write home about, but I thought it did alright. Until I saw one of the posters they had passed on!

The poster was provided by PosterWire and was created by illustrator, James Goodridge. It is an interesting point to note that Goodridge is one of the few "traditional" illustrators who work in Hollywood.

Personally, I like this poster more than the ones the studio choose to use. What do you think of this Inglourious Basterds movie poster?

For his next next project, an independent film called Buried, Ryan Reynolds plays a civilian contractor who is kidnapped in Iraq. He wakes up to find himself buried in a coffin in the middle of the desert, his only weapons being a cell phone, a candle, and a knife. Buried is currently shooting in Barcelona, with Rodrigo Cortes directing a script by Chris Sparling.

I do have one question though, if he is indeed the only person in the movie...what's the cell phone for? Just say'en...

The movie poster for the new comedy, Up In The Air starring George Clooney, Vira Farmiga and Anna Kendrick, was released by Empire today. The film was directed by Jason Reitman, who has previously brought you Thank You For Smoking and Juno.

Up In The Air stars Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert whose job it is to fly around the world and find ways to slim down business payrolls. On the brink of accumulating ten million frequent flyer miles, Bingham meets the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams. However, when his company wants to move him to a set position at company headquarters, suddenly his very cherished life on the road becomes threatened.

Based off the novel by Walter Kim, Up In The Air will make it's debut at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Amidst quite a few debates as to whether it was authentic or not, Fox has confirmed that the Avatar artwork released of a very blue Zoe Saldana playing a Na'vi character, is indeed real. Saldana plays, Neytiri, an actual member of the native race and not a military created avatar.

Directed by James Cameron, Avatar is his first, and much anticipated, film since his previous blockbuster Titanic. It's the story of a paraplegic war veteran who journeys to the planet Pandora to take part a program called, Avatar. Basically a human mind in an alien body, the solider soon finds himself torn between two worlds that are each fighting for their survival.

Opening in both conventional and IMAX 3D theaters on December 18th 2009, the film stars: Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, and Joel David Moore.

I like the feel this poster gives, but there is something that's throwing me off just a bit with it. I mean, shouldn't the character named Jonah Hex be given the predominate spot in a movie called Jonah Hex? Just seems like he's a bit off to the side while Megan Fox is the center of the poster. Maybe that's just me, what do you guys think?

The movie is a western about a bounty hunter named Jonah Hex, who is tracking down a man trying to raise an army of undead to liberate the south. Directed by Jimmy Hayward, Jonah Hex will be released June 18th of 2010.

I'm pretty stoked about this film. I really like how it's shaping up and these new pictures from USA Today look great. They feature Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Pots who recently got a promotion to head of Stark Industries, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash and Jon Favreau with Robert Downey Jr and Don Cheadle.

Although I couldn't go to Comic Con this year, I do hope the Iron Man 2 presentation is amazing for all that attend!

For those who don't know what Comic Con is, imagine upwards of 120,000 people comprised of filmmakers, producers, and every kind of geeky fanboy there is. And this year, there are a lot of Iron Man geeks.

They, like many people, are awaiting to see what the new Iron Man 2 movie has to offer. I wouldn't classify myself as an Iron Man fanboy, but even I heard about how Jon Favreau's 2007 Iron Man presentation, complete with blasting Black Sabbath's anthem of the same name, while showing unedited Iron Man footage brought everyone to their feet.

So as I said before, for all those that are attending the Iron Man 2 presentation, I hope it kicks an unbelievable amount of ass!!

So I've been somewhat on the fence about this Prince of Persia movie.As many of you know another hobby of mine is gaming, mostly PC gaming but this was one of the games that I loved on console. The rewinding time concept was huge in this game and I remember it saved me from dying many times. However, as many of you also know the track record with great games being turned into great movies is like 0-1000. And before some of you even try to bring up Hitman, don't. That movie sucked to.

It didn't help that they had chosen Jake Gyllenhaal to play the Prince. I like and respect him greatly as an actor and think he's very talented but do I see him as the Prince of Persia? Not really. Interestingly enough, there was an incident a long time ago where they chose an actor to play a role and nobody agreed with it. Even the author who had written the book the movie was based off of called him a poor choice for the role. A statement which she later recanted after she had watched the film. The author was Anne Rice, the actor was Tom Cruise and role of course was Lestat. Ever since then I try to give people a fair shot at a role...even if I don't seem them resembling the role in the least.

So it was with a shred of glimmering hope that I looked at these posters of Gyllenhaal as the Prince, Gemma Arterton as Tamina and Ben Kingsley as the evil Vizier Nizam and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased. Although I will add that I think the Prince's armor is more inspired from The Warrior Within game as opposed to the Sands of Time, but that's just my inner geek talking. I still feel a bit odd about Gyllenhaal as the Prince but I do feel a bit better and hopeful about the film.

Since this blog has been up and running for a fairly short time there have been some films which I didn't get a chance to show you guys the trailers to and such because...well...the blog didn't exist. So when I was browsing the web and came across some production pics of Taking Woodstock, I figured it would give me a good opportunity to show you both some of the pictures and the trailer.

Taking Woodstock is Ang Lee's latest film and stars Emile Hirsch, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Liev Schreiber and Paul Dano. The story, in a very condensed nutshell, is about how Woodstock came to be on that famous field. So break out your lava lamps, floral print and get ready to light your...er....cigars...yeah that's right, here's a look at Taking Woodstock.

In David O. Russell's upcoming movie, The Fighter Christian Bale plays Dicky Eklund, half brother to famous boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward. Ward, who will be played by Mark Wahlberg, was a boxer from Lowell, Massachusetts who struggled until Eklund's training and guidance helped lead him to a world lightweight championship.

With the film having recently started shooting, JustJared has the first pics from the movie. If you think Bale resembles a drug addict you'd be right. Eklund himself struggled with drugs for some time, spending time in jail and was featured in a 1995 documentary, High on Crack Street.

As you can see Bale has slimmed down quite a bit for this role. Although the effect of the weight loss is pretty shocking, it's not entirely surprising that Bale would choose to drop the weight. Bale's choice to lose weight for roles when it is called for is pretty well known, having once dropped sixty-three pounds for the role of Trevor Reznik in 2004's, The Machinist.

Actress Drew Barrymore gets in the director's chair with her new film, Whip It.Barrymore has been producing movies for quite some time already with films like Never Been Kissed, Donnie Darko, and the Charlie's Angel's movies already under her producers belt. The script for this project and the novel which it is based on were both written by Shauna Cross, who plays this sport in real life.

When speaking about her first time directing, Barrymore said this: "I've been putting everything into a piggy bank, whether it was working with a filmmaker or going to a museum or listening to a certain song. Everything I've learned throughout my whole life has been going into this piggy bank, and I just smashed it all over the floor with this one."

The comedy stars Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis, Kristin Wiig, Jimmy Fallon, Zoe Bell along with Barrymore in a story about Page's character, Bliss Cavendar. Biss gets tired of her mother's pressure towards being a beauty queen and finds a release for her frustration in joining the underground, rough and tumble woman's sport of roller derby. Whip It, is set to hit theaters October 9th.

I'm pretty excited about this movie it looks like a lot of fun, and with roller derby names like Babe Ruthless, Smashley Simpson, Maggie Mayhem, Dinah Might and, my personal favorite, Bloody Holly how could you not smile? Here's a look at some pictures USA Today provided from the film:

A couple of weeks ago Disney had released some pictures of Tim Burton's, Alice in Wonderland that awed everyone and confirmed the belief that Burton could create things no one would think of, unless of course you were on acid.

Today Planet Disney has posted some additional full length pictures that again enforce Burton's talent for creating movies and images that are somehow insanely stunning, oddly disconcerting and darkly beautiful all at the same time.

I am so looking forward to this movie.

At the Cinema Expo in Amsterdam, James Cameron revealed 24 minutes of his very much awaited movie, Avatar. Cameron, who has always been at the forefront for bringing 3D movies to their fullest capabilities, presented the 24 minutes on a 55 foot screen using the RealID XL Cinema system.

The film stars Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang. Although the media was not allowed to discuss the Avatar images and the reviewing audience were required to sign non-disclosure agreements, there have been several brief write ups going around the web from audience members.

After reading several of these write ups, there were two things that I came away with. The first being a bit clearer on the setup of the story. Worthington plays a paraplegic ex-marine Jake Sully who is brought to the planet, Pandora inhabited by a humanoid race the Na'vi. Weaver plays Dr. Grace Augustine, a guide that explains how transporting yourself into an "Avatar" works. The rest of the screening seemed to focus on bringing Pandora to life through its environment, wildlife and 3D effects which were described as "beautiful" and "breathtaking".

Which leads me into the second point I seemed to pick up while reading the write ups. I noticed that Cameron's actual usage of the 3D was both different and very welcome. One write up on comingsoon.net says this, "Finally a director that doesn't feel the need to stick it to the audience's face with cheap tricks like pointing objects at the camera." Much of Cameron's use of the 3D effects seemed to be spent on immersing you in the actual environment through subtle yet stunning effects which seemed to leave everyone in the audience excited and wanting more.

I'm looking forward to this movie now, I'm really eager to see how Cameron uses his 3D to create Pandora and the Na'vi. Anyone else going to be waiting on this movie?
