I'd like to be perfectly clear on something. I have never read, nor will I ever read Tucker Max's homage to being drunk, trying to pick up girls, and somehow ending up with your own shit on you entitled, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell.

Not that I'm casting judgment without any basis, I did actually try to read it and miraculously made it through half a chapter, then I had to stop. I was afraid I was actually becoming dumber by osmosis. Somehow this Ode to Idiocy was picked up for an independent film production, with who else but Tucker Max to co-write the script. Max supposedly based the movie on his story, The Austin Road Trip.

Early reviewers of the screenplay have shredded it, saying it lacks even the minuscule amount of drunk comedic charm his book had. Which is saying quite a bit.

Charm or no charm, Myspace debuted the movie trailer for I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell today starring Matt Czuchry from Gilmore Girls as Max. Bob Goose directed the film which is set to hit theaters on October 16th, 2009.
