The 1982 police drama TV series which was produced by Aaron Spelling and starred William Shattner is now headed for the big screen.

David Foster, Ryan Heppe and original series creator Rick Husky will produce the film as an action-comedy, with writers Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson penning the script. The story will focus on the relationship between T.J. Hooker and his father.

According to Variety, the director in talks for this project is Chuck Russell who brought us, The Mask and The Scorpion King. As of yet, there are no actors cast for this film.

My email might be flooded with hate mail for saying this but, I was never a T.J. Hooker fan. For some reason I just felt...blah about the whole thing. So let's just say that my enthusasim for this project is around the same level, maybe it will change as I get more details about it, but for right now it's a firm, "Blah." What do you guys think?

I've been a huge Shatner fan since I was in diapers. T.J. Hooker? Not so much.

And I hate when they turn action series I grew up with into action comedies a la Starsky & Hutch. They should toughen them up for the 21st century instead of making them even dumber. I hear that's how they're approaching Carnahan's A-Team with Liam Neeson being cast in Peppard's role.
