The news that John Hughes passed away yesterday was extremely saddening news for filmmakers, both old and new. This man created many of the films that were iconic 80's movies with a unique style and voice.

Hollywood Reporter states: "John Hughes, the Chicago-based filmmaker who redefined the teen movie in the '80s with his sympathetic comedies about the joys and heartbreak of high school life, died Thursday of a heart attack in New York. He was 59."

He told stories that centered on teen life, love and laughter. He also gave hope to geeks around the world that they to, at some point, could get the very hot girl. The very hot British or red-headed girl. Amidst the laughter though, his films also highlighted the fragility of life. That if you so choose, you could be or do anything you wanted regardless of your social status or upbringing. That no matter how damaged a relationship was, it was always worth a try to fix it. That's what made his characters so memorable and his films so inspiring and charming.
