Hugh Jackman To Start On Wolverine 2

You know, in my own imaginary universe there is a law that says if something goes against all logic and meets a certain stupidity level, you could simply say, "Stop it." Then all the offending idiocy would cease to exist. If this were indeed true, there are two projects which I can say almost without a doubt that would not go forward. Wolverine 2 is one of those.

While appearing for the Teen Choice Awards, Hugh Jackman made the announcement that Wolverine 2 will be headed for Japan. The source material they're going to base this project on will be Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's four-issue Wolverine mini-series. Published in 1982, this series has Wolverine heading to Japan to look for his long lost love, Mariko Yashida.

When he arrives, he finds Mariko married to a business tycoon and has some pretty big clashes with Mariko's father along with the ninja assassin clan The Hand.

My initial reaction to this movie is very similar to a lot of the comments I've read about this subject. Which is thinking to myself, "How can they make another Wolverine movie when we haven't recovered from the travesty of the first one?" I did come across one small glimmer of hope though after reading some of the source material, and seeing that many fans agreed that if they stay close to the source material on this one, it might turn out ok.

So now I do have a very, very small amount of grudging interest in this project based only from the source material. Definitely not from the previous movie. Just thinking about that mess makes me wish for my imaginary laws again.
