Channing Tatum, Donald Sutherland, Jamie Bell and Mark Strong are all going to be searching for a lost legion. The lost Ninth Roman legion that is. According to THR, all the actors have signed on for the project, Eagle of the Ninth.

The film is being directed by Kevin Macdonald, who previously brought us State of Play, with Duncan Kenworthy producing. Jeremy Brock, who last worked with Macdonald on The Last King of Scotland, penned the script.

Financed by Focus Features and a UK broadcasters division Film4, the movie is set to be a Roman epic. Beginning in second century Britain, the story will follow young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) as he travels to Rome to try and solve the mysterious disappearance of the entire ninth legion in Scotland. While trying to solve the unexplained happenings of the legion, Aquila is also trying to restore the reputation of his father, who was the commander in charge of the missing legion and find the legion's lost golden emblem, The Eagle of the Ninth.

I think the story for this movie sounds pretty interesting, but the fact that Tatum is going to play the lead doesn't. As I said before in a few of my reviews, the guy is eye candy. That's about it. So to see another movie with him cast as the lead after just watching him in G.I. Joe leaves me cringing. What do you guys think of the cast for Eagle of the Ninth so far?
