Reynolds 'Breaks the Wall' With Deadpool
OK so we all know the only bright spot in that huge letdown called X-Men Origins: Wolverine was Ryan Reynolds' performance as Wade Wilson and later emergence as Deadpool. Not unexpectedly, there was a project drawn up about Deadpool with Reynolds at the helm.
Almost immediately after hearing of this project, a ton of questions were asked of Reynolds and the plans for the movie's development. One of the bigger questions that came from comic book fans was if Reynolds' character would speak to the audience or "break the fourth wall"? Well the fans have finally got some answers to a couple of their questions.
When asked about breaching the wall Empire reports that Reynolds had this to say, "Break the fourth wall? Oh yeah, he’s got to. I want to see him break the Great Wall." As far as the development goes, in an earlier interview with Hitfix, Reynolds expressed that an emphasis is being put on staying close to the source material saying, "Well, I'm intimately involved with it. We're just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff. But, it's going to be just like the comic books. I'm gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that's the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible." Sounds good to me.
Still, there are a few things that Reynolds won't talk about, like exactly how is the continuity going to work with this spin-off? After all, didn't he get decapitated? "That, " Reynolds says, "Is something we won't speak of." Fair enough...for now.
So what do you guys think so far? Do you like the direction this movie is heading?
