Actress Amy Adams is in negotiations with Relativity Media to star alongside Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg in director David O. Russell's new drama, The Fighter.

Scheduled to start shooting this summer, The Fighter tells the story of "Irish" Micky Ward, portrayed by Wahlberg, and his earlier days on the rough streets of Lowell, Massachusetts. Helped by his half brother, played by Bale, Ward shaped up his boxing and fought his way to a world lightweight championship. Adams would play a hometown bartender who becomes the love interest of Walhberg's character.

According to Variety, Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, Ryan Kavanaugh, Wahlberg, Paul Tamasy and Dorothy Aufiero are producing while Paramount Pictures is set to distribute the film domestically.
