When it was announced that the 1972 Charles Bronson film, The Mechanic would be remade, I was mildly interested. However, I just learned two new names that have definitely raised the level of excitement for me. Collider reports that Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland have just been added to the project. The two will star alongside Jason Statham, who had previously been signed on to the film.

I've always loved Donald Sutherland and after Foster's performance in 3:10 To Yuma, I'm in for whatever he does for a while. Directed by Simon West, this new version of The Mechanic will have Statham as an aging hitman who takes on a young apprentice, played by Foster. Sutherland will play Foster's father and Statham's handler.

As far as a discussion point goes, I've been hearing and reading a few comments about the disappointment that Simon West is attached to this project, and I wanted to get in a few thoughts about that. Or who you think might have been a better addition to the film as the director?
