Paramount Set For The Secret of NIMH Remake

When I was growing up, The Secret of NIMH was one of my favorite movies. I loved the way it told the story of an evolved, intelligent animal society. I also got the feel that although it was an animated movie, it was targeted at a slightly older audience than a "pure cartoon" would be, which made me love it even more.

Now Paramount Pictures is going to redo the book of "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" written by Robert C. O'Brian. The book won the Newbery Medal in 1972 and was adapted into the well known animated film mentioned above, The Secret of NIHM in 1982.

The classic story is of a mouse named Mrs. Frisby, although it was changed to Brisby for the film, who must move her family and her very sick son to escape the farmer's plow.

Following the advice of a very old and wise owl, she enlists the help of a community of rats who she later discovers are a group of escaped super-intelligent lab rats.

According to THR, the director in talks to write the screenplay for this project is Neil Burger, who has previously directed, The Illusionist with former Walden Media exec. Cary Granat set to produce. Although it is not known for sure yet, it is likely that the remake will be a combination of live-action and CGI.

As I said before, I loved this movie growing up so while I'm happy there going to do another adaptation of the book, that feeling is lined with a cautionary joy because I'm still pretty attached to the animated film and don't want them to lose the feel of it. How do you guys feel about this film being remade?
