So before I give my official review of this movie I'd like everyone to take just a quick second to think about what a "summer blockbuster" is to you. I mean what's the first thing that pop's into your mind? Big action, big explosions and big special effects that make your eyes go huge and things like, "Whoa" or "WoW" or "Holy #$!$%!" come out of your mouth. Or at least that's what I think of and on that point, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen delivers.

The Ups
This movie is filled with action, amazing special effects and enough C4 to keep the explosions lasting all movie long. I also really liked the fact that this movie addressed a couple big complaints the audience voiced about the first Transformers movie. The first and the biggest being the screen time, or more specifically, the lack thereof with the Autobots and Decepticons. We wanted to see more of them, and in this film we got it. There is much more time spent on screen with one faction or the other, or both. Which brings us nicely into point two. The second complaint was that, although the original Transformers came with lots of explosions and action, there was a definite lack of action between the Autobots and Decepticons. We wanted to see more fight scenes with them. Revenge of the Fallen fixes that. There is much more fighting with them and one scene in particular, (I don't want to give anything away for those of you that still haven't seen it) in a forest that is absolutely awesome.

The Downs
As much as I really liked this movie, there were some major issues that came with it. The first being the introduction of two particular characters. With the introduction of "The Twins" came talk about how annoying they were, with some people even calling them *gasp* the next Jar Jar Binks. After watching the movie though, I really didn't find them that bad. I mean, yes, their actual characters were stereotypical and, yeah, their ebonically ridden speech was pretty corny. Thankfully though their dialogue was limited to short verbal jabs or quick one liners purely intended to make the audience laugh, which the audience did on a couple occasions. To me Jar Jar was far more agitating. Aside from that, I found the supporting cast to be ok. I did think LaBeouf's parents were unusually dorky while with him at college. (I mean c'mon the "special" brownies came with a freak'en picture on the bag!) I'll sum up the acting of the main cast in one quick sentence. Shia LaBeouf did well, Megan Fox not so much. And I suppose you can't mention the actors without mentioning the dialogue. Dear God, the dialogue. Let's just say there were definitely times when "the cheese" was reaching dangerously high levels.

The Wrap-up
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an all out "Summer Blockbuster" that will wow your senses with insane special effects and non-stop action. If you're looking for more though, like well developed characters or a deep, intricate plot, pick another movie. But really guys, (and this is where I get a bit agitated sometimes) who the hell goes to an action movie looking for great dialogue? If I go to an action movie I want to see two main things. I want to see actions and great special effects. No, that doesn't mean I want mindless violence but I didn't exactly see people running to see Sense and Sensibility for the action or explosions. Action movies are supposed to deliver action, summer action movies are supposed to deliver a ton of action and awesome special effects. For me, this movie did that.

The Final Score

The Movie: 6.5 out of 10

The WOW Factor: 9.5 out of 10
