Agent 47 is back, with a new writer. According to IESB.net, 20th Century Fox has hired writer Kyle Ward to write the script for the new sequel to the 2007 film, Hitman. Ward’s past works include the upcoming Kayne & Lynch movie with Bruce Willis and the Platinum Dunes film Fiasco Heights.

Hmm…

I’m not sure how I feel about this. A big reason being that, aside from movies, another one of my passions is gaming. Mostly PC gaming, but I dabble here and there in console games from time to time. Now one thing I really hate, both as a moviegoer and a gamer is when Hollywood makes a movie about a really great game, then forgets to include anything that made the game so great. So I have mixed reactions because the movie junkie in me says, “Yes!!” The gamer in me says, “Dear God, please no!”

Ok ok, even the movie junkie is pretty hesitant on this one because even though the first Hitman movie grossed an estimated 100 million dollars world wide it…well…sucked. Bad. Not only did it deliver its own plot poorly but what really pissed me off about this movie was, it really didn’t portray Agent 47 well at all.

The Hitman games have a great synergy between a game that challenges you to assassinate increasingly harder and harder targets quietly, and a poignant portrayal of a man trying to piece together his past while forced to do things he doesn’t approve of. The film just didn’t give us that. Instead, I felt we got a watered down version of 24, albeit with cooler guns.

How do you guys feel about this? Should Hollywood be given another go at making a Hitman movie? Or is this a time when you just wish they’d leave the Silenced Ballers alone?
